Inspirational Altered Cards Project

by Nov 10, 20200 comments

This altered cards project is a perfect example of how to mix and match different images and was created by Kat Kirby of 2KatStudios.
This is one of many great projects that Kat offers in her studio, where you can join her for all kinds of wonderful creative workshops. And since March, when she was no longer able to offer workshops in her studio, Kat has created a thriving Virtual Workshop business using Zoom. You can find many of her tutorials on her YouTube channel.

About the Images

When thinking about what images to group into a collection for Photos for Artists, I try to get a balanced mix of foreground and background images. You can mix and match between packs, but you have enough images to get creative with just one pack.

The cards are small, so it’s not too time consuming and you can pick whatever theme you want to explore. Kat made these beautiful mini collages by taking objects from one scene to create new images to serve her purposes.

Using various papers for backgrounds, a selection of curated words, and in this case — images from Photos for Artists, she created her own personal Oracle deck.

The results are really wonderful! And, now she has a small deck of inspirational cards to use for daily meditations, gift to friends, or to inspire others.

These images are all from Photos for Artists Collections 2 and 3. You can get creative today with your own photo packs from the Footprints and Photos Etsy store.

Make your own footprints…

Collage projects will get your creative juices flowing!

I hope that Kat’s project has inspired you to get creative, whether it’s an altered card deck, a vision board, or your own design. Just enjoy the process and have some fun.

If you use some of my Photos for Artists images in your next project, please post images of your finished projects to Instagram and Facebook with the hashtags: #photos4artists and #FootprintsAndPhotos. I’d love to see what you do with the images.

Enjoy the journey!

I'm Karin and I just love to share a good story — preferably with snacks! I’m particularly interested in capturing the world’s beauty and wonder in photographs.

Recently I created Photos for Artists, packs of images for artists to use in their collage and art projects. You can find a detailed description and photos on my Footprints and Photos Etsy store.

Besides my blog, Footprints & Stories, you can also find my images on Zazzle products. I have two stores — one with Gifts for Travelers and Nature Lovers, the other with Gifts for Gardeners and Lovers of Flowers. Items include wedding invitations, tote bags, mugs, journals and more. Every product is backed by the Zazzle guarantee.

Please use the links provided as it helps me buy better snacks (and funds the website)!
